Swayam 2024: A Day of Unbridled Joy and Festive Cheer

December 19th, 2024, was a day that will be etched in the memories of the students, teachers, and parents of HFS International for a long time to come. It was the day of theannual fun fest, Swayam, a spectacular event that brought together the entire school community in a celebration of joy, festivity, and camaraderie.

The event took place at the HFS International Basketball Court, which was transformed into a vibrant and colorful venue, buzzing with excitement and energy. The timings were from 11 am to 1 pm, and the students from grades 6 to IBDP 2 had put up an impressive array of food stalls and game stalls, showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

The event began with a formal inauguration ceremony, wherein Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, cut the ribbon to mark the beginning of Swayam. In her address, she spoke about the significance of Swayam and how the money earned from the event would be donated to the underprivileged. Her words set the tone for the event, which was not only a celebration of fun and festivity, but also a noble endeavor to give back to the community.

As the event commenced, the atmosphere became increasingly electric, with the sound of laughter, music, and chatter filling the air. A choir of students sang Christmas carols, accompanied by Principal Ma'am, who joined in with gusto. The parents and teachers couldn't resist the infectious energy, and soon found themselves dancing along to the music.

One of the highlights of the event was a flash mob, where the students danced to an upbeat song, leaving the audience in awe. The energy was palpable, and everyone was caught up in the excitement of the moment.

The food stalls were a major attraction, offering a diverse range of delicacies, from pasta, to chaat, to desserts, to nachos - there was an amalgamation of food from a plethora of cultures! The game stalls and challenges were also a huge hit, with people of all ages eager to try their luck. A photo booth was set up, too, where students, parents, and teachers could take pictures to capture the memories of the day. Principal Ma'am visited every stall, taking pictures with the students and praising their efforts. It was a wonderful gesture that made the students feel proud and appreciated. Throughout the event, the choir sessions took place at regular intervals, keeping the festive spirit alive and getting everyone in the mood to groove to the Christmas carols. Smiling faces decorated the surroundings.

What made Swayam truly special was that it provided an opportunity for every student to participate and contribute to this positive initiative. Regardless of their interests or talents, each student had a role to play, whether it was helping to set up the stalls, designing the posters and banners, or simply manning the stalls and engaging with the visitors. This inclusive approach ensured that every student felt valued and empowered, and it was heartening to see them work together towards a common goal.

The success of Swayam 2024 was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, CRA members, parents, and teachers. Everyone had put in a tremendous effort to make the event a success, and it was heartening to see their labor of love come to fruition.

As a token of appreciation, the CRA members and parents who had helped with the event were invited to the canteen for some refreshments. It was a well-deserved break for them, and a fitting end to a wonderful event.
