On the 25th of january 2021,HFS international organized their first ever Symposium , to mark the celebration of India’s 72nd Republic Day. Due to the pandemics the event was organized online using google meet.

The theme of the event was “Aatmanirbhar Bharat - A feasible vision or a far cry?”. Atma Nirbhar Bharat is derived from the vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of making Bharat a self-reliant nation. The event was started with a prayer and then carried forward by the hosts for the day, Eshaan Thapar and Aakriti Lakhanpal. For the symposium, Students were divided into two teams: with the first team talking about Atma Nirbhar Bharat being a feasible vision followed by the second team, which will discuss Atma Nirbhar Bharat as a far cry. The judges for the symposium were Ms. Jaya and Ms. Yogita.

Where the first team discussed the country’s current GDP and the GDP after the impact of COVID-19 on the nation in comparison to other countries such as China,USA and many more.They then moved on to discuss the steps the country takes in order to become self reliant such as equipping the military with better more accessible artillery, army jets and military communication devices. They then explained in detail the 5 pillars of self reliant india and also gave an overview of the country's exports and imports, India post macroeconomic stabilization and post independence era’s economic view.

The second team very efficiently discussed the shortcomings of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat policy by Initially discussing the government's expenditure plans and then bringing notice to what was in their opinion, poor implementation and the cost of self- reliability and why India cannot afford to do so. They ended their side of discussions by commenting on the impacts of the policy on employment and explaining the importance of foregin trade to India.

At the end of the event results were announced by principal ma;am as follows Ishaan Shetty of IB1 from the first team won best speaker with Harshit Joshi of IB1 as the runner up and Aarushi Warrior of grade 9 from the second team won best speaker with Kiara Menon and Jas Thakkar runners up.
