A LEGACY THAT CONTINUES TO THRIVE: HFSMUN 2022

The Hiranandani Foundation School Model United Nations, an ISC and IBDP initiative, burgeoned under the dream of reaching the pinnacle at Hotel Meluha- The Fern, Mumbai. A vast manifestation of the spirit of HFSMUN, the Opening Ceremony, provided the perfect commemoration of the day.

The Principal and Head of the School, Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, boosted the ambiance of the hall with her passionate oration and reminded the students of the humble beginning which had reaped into a great accomplishment. In her remarks, she said, “It’s not always about winning; what matters is participation". As she reminded everyone that Earth belongs to no particular nation, it aroused a sense of responsibility about the global apprehensions of our future. The Under-Secretary Generals, Nikhil Bhatia and Teesta Anand, addressed the gathering celebrating the dynamic Organising Committee and acknowledging the guidance and support of all. Her Excellency, Mrs. Andrea Kühn, the Consulate General of South Africa in Mumbai, graced the event with her esteemed presence and delivered a moving speech on the spirit of humanity. A poem on the same was delivered by Erika Goyal, child prodigy and student at HFS who had written her first book at merely eight years of age. Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, the Honourable Trustee of the Hiranandani Group and soul of every HFS event, spurred every resting mind to action with his insightful address to the audience.

With that, the conference moved on to three days filled with chaotic crises and intense debates. Delegates were challenged every other minute as they faced situations inspired by real-life affairs. An essential aspect of HFMUN, the Night Crisis, is a highly sought-after event throughout the history of HFSMUN. The best delegates from each committee assembled together in this emergency crisis cabinet as they worked to provide a solution for the dispute over the South China Sea.
The Secretariat led by Director General Master, Meet Modi motivated the team, and Secretary General, Master Hriday Adani motivated the team in participation and discussion.

As the Undersecretary-Generals, Divyanshi Patoria, and Janay Asher steered the closing ceremony, the audience was taken on a nostalgic ride with a montage of memorable moments from the conference. A mesmerizing musical performance by the students on ‘The Scientist’ by Coldplay left the audience snapping their fingers to the beat. The chief guest, Mr. Ashank Desai, the Founder and former Chairperson of Mastek, narrated his story of struggle and stressed the importance of being not just successful but also a good human being. The Founder of R2i2 Labs Fintech Co., and Human Design Foundation among other ventures, Mr. Hemant Singh’s discourse on the seven models of life was enlightening. A speech that clearly came from his heart touched those of the 300 delegates present in the hall. The award ceremony proclaimed the Best School Delegation as The Catherdral and John Connon School, with accolades given to the best delegates of each committee.

The Head of the Organising Committee, Riya Singh, gratified the support and efforts of each individual. Finally, with the power accorded to the Secretary-General, he hit the gavel and announced the closure of the conference.
