Founder’s Day Celebrations

HFS INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATES 13th FOUNDER’S DAY ON THE 103rd BIRTHDAY OF PADMA BHUSHAN DR. L. H. HIRANANDANI.

Founder’s Day - most important day in the school’s calendar: a day when we remember the Founders of the school, and value their legacy. We are indebted to our founders who had the vision that led to the creation of the school back in 1990 and who has contributed to the leadership and vision of the school since. None of the education for which the school has become known would have happened without the foresight of the original Founders, who set out with the express intention of developing a school which provided an excellent education for both boys and girls. We owe them a debt of gratitude – without them this fine school simply would not exist – and for the same to appreciate their commitments and selfless service to society; we honour them on Founders’ Day each year. Dr. L. H. Hiranandani has left behind a stupendous legacy in the form of the trustees of the school, his worthy sons, Dr.Niranjan Hiranandani and Mr.Surendra Hirananadani who remain an embodiment of wisdom, innovation and vision.

On 18th September, HFSI arranged an equally mesmerizing programme with Mr.Surendra Hiranandani, the entrepreneur, philanthropist and academician joining the enthusiastic learners all the way from U.K. The Reading Club of HFSI that was inaugurated on the Founder’s Day four years back has bloomed and blossomed to showcase thoughts and visions of the budding authors of tomorrow. The theme of 2020 was “Future Ready to the TEE”. Under the flagship of our Principal, Mrs.Kalyani Patnaik students broached stimulating queries that revolved around the future of Technology and the ways in which Education can be impacted. The second “E” is the emotional quotient that looms large in a world sobered by the march of death. The eloquence of the students, right from the very small children to the IBDP scholars coupled with the thought- provoking presentation and followed by musical renditions surely must have enraptured the strong two hundred viewers who were watching the programme live on You Tube.

Mr.Surendra Hiranandani who launched the website of the reading Club harped on the theme of imagination being spurred on by reading and advised the learners of today’s digital world how important it was to pick up the passion of reading. He went down the memory lane sharing his penchant for reading that he had inherited from his father, Dr. L.H. Hiranandani who would take him to libraries and bookstores to evoke in him an interest in reading. A self-taught engineer, he went on to recount how reading can open new horizons of creativity, imagination and innovation.

The inspiration and encouragement by the trustees of the school who took out their precious time to come and be a part of the two days programme would give the school an impetus to forge ahead with a new zeal. Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, forever upholding all the principles articulated by the stalwart, Dr. L.H. Hiranandani is the visionary who is there to guide the students:

“If you can’t be a highway, then just be a trail,
If you can’t be the sun, be a star;
It isn’t by size that you win or fail -
Be the best of whatever you are!” (Douglas Malloch)
