Hour of code Activity

Hour of code Activity

At HFSI, we have always believed in enriching students in all aspects. With the occasion of Hour of Code, an event that takes place every year during the Computer Science Education Week, HFSI conducted the event from 4th to 8th of December, spanning students of grades 8, 9,10 and IB-1.It aimed to introduce students to the world of code and build interest as well as skill in the same. Computer science and coding, in general, helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. Students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path with access to basic coding skills, which is what the Hour of Code aims to instil in them.

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Check out the tutorials and activities. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide.

All the students participating immersed themselves into the essence of what code is. Some students used block coding and others applied previously learned coding knowledge into creating something new. From re-coding nostalgic, old games like Flappy Bird to creating games entirely original, the Hour of Code event brought out the best of creativity and logical reasoning abilities from the students.

The Hour of Code event at HFSI truly brought out the best in the students, having combined a useful skill with a fun, enjoyable and interactive experience.
