9th GRADUATION CEREMONY at HFSI
9th GRADUATION CEREMONY at HFSI
On the auspicious Graduation Day ceremony held on 6th April 2018, students of the passing batch of 2016-18 witnessed a gala event when they set forth to embark on a new journey with a mission to explore horizons hitherto unknown to them. Their tossing off the cap and twirling the tassel was a significant gesture reflecting the role that the school played in their lives; preparing them to face challenges while tightly holding their hands and gently putting them across when time demanded them to bloom and blossom in a world far away from the customary periphery of the school.
The events of the day gradually unfolded with the Principal, Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik inaugurating the ceremony by lighting the diya and welcoming the Chief guests, Mr. and Mrs. Rangarh and Mr. and Mrs. Jain, parents of last year’s IBDP toppers, Menita Ranghar and Shubh Jain.
Addressing the students, their parents and the staff, Mrs. Patnaik reminded the students that the school had nurtured, guided and inspired them while teaching certain values that included shouldering responsibilities and making them realize too that school was ‘actually fun’. She opined that endowed with the rich legacy of self- respect and confidence, students of HFSI would come out brilliantly and make not only the school feel proud of their achievements but also prove themselves to be an asset to our nation.
It was also a proud moment for the school when Ms.Poorvi Iyer, alumni of HFSI, presently pursuing a PhD program at the prestigious London School of Economics shared her experiences and expressed her gratitude for the institution that moulded her thoughts inspiring her to reach the zenith of success.
The Coordinator of HFSI, Ms. Jagruti Joshi read out the individual achievements of all the twenty-five students graduating that day. Medals and trophies were awarded to the deserving students amidst great applause. It was an honour to announce that the Head Girl of HFSI, Maya Bhagat was a recipient of a full scholarship at the illustrious Harvard University where she has taken admission this year. She is the one amongst the only two students from Mumbai to have made it to Harvard University to major in Biology.
The programme of the day came to an end with the Head Boy, Prithvi Nimmagada and the Head Girl, Maya Bhagat recapitulating moments spent at school amidst fun and laughter while striving hard to meet the deadlines of the IBDP curriculum. In a speech, spiced with humour, the form tutor Ms. Rakhee Gakhar, blessed her wards urging them to forge ahead with courage and determination.
As Emerson said in his essay on “Self-Reliance”, “There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion; that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till.” The students of HFSI were thus set free to play their own little instrument in the orchestra of life from that very moment when they jubilantly flung their caps in a spirit of abandon and embraced what life had in store for them.
Their foray into prestigious Universities like New York University, Vancouver UBC, UC Berkley with scholarships speak volumes about their worth. “Great going HFS International.”
